The 2009
West Point Bridge Design Contest will begin at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time on October 1 , 2008. Contest registration will be opened at that time. |

The contest will end at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time on June 2, 2009; however, the on-line registration and automated judging systems will remain fully operational until July 1, 2009, to accommodate any local contests that may still be underway at that time. |

On July 1, 2009, the on-line registration and automated judging systems will be shut down, and the contest database will be cleared in preparation for the next year's contest. |

| Why
October to June? |
|
The current contest format is intended to promote the establishment of local contests run by teachers, engineering firms, and professional societies. Thus we now start the contest in the fall and finish in the spring, so that teachers and other local contest sponsors can take advantage of the contest during both the spring and fall semesters.
