Use the three-disk
setup if you plan to install the West Point Bridge Designer 2007
on a computer using 3.5" (1.44 MB) diskettes. This setup is particularly
useful if you need to install the software on a computer that is not connected
to the Internet or a local network. To do the three-disk setup:
- There are two sets
of setup files--one for Windows XP computers and one for computers running
all other versions of Windows. Locate the correct set of three files.
- Click the download
button for Disk 1 (setup7xd.exe or setup7d.exe).
- Your browser will
display a dialog box asking if you want to save the file or open it.
Choose the Save option. WARNING:
Do not use the Open (or Run) option!
If you choose this option, the installation
will fail.
- Save the Disk
1 file (setup7xd.exe or setup7d.exe) to your hard drive.
Remember where you put it.
Do not save the file directly to a 3.5" diskette.
If you save directly to a diskette, you are more likely to experience
file decompression errors.
- Click the download
button for Disk 2 (setup7xd.2 or setup7d.2) and save the
file to the same folder on your hard drive.
- Click the download
button for Disk 3 (setup7xd.3 or setup7d.3) and save the
file to the same folder on your hard drive.
- Start up Windows
Explorer and locate the folder where you saved all three files. Copy
each file onto a separate blank, formatted 3.5" diskette. Label the
diskettes "Disk 1," "Disk 2," and "Disk 3."
- To install the
software, first shut down all Windows programs, including your web browser.
Please don't ignore this step! Most
installation problems are caused by system file conflicts that occur
when the user leaves a virus checker, web browser, or other software
running on the computer while executing the setup program.
- Place Disk 1 into
the 3.5" disk drive on the computer. Using Windows Explorer, locate
setup7xd.exe or setup7d.exe on the diskette and double-click
it.
- Follow the instructions
for installation of the software. When prompted, insert each of the
two remaining setup disks.
If You Have a Problem
With Installation
Some old
versions of the Microsoft Internet Explorer web browser have a bug that
erroneously causes an extra ".2" or ".3" extension to be added to the
end of the file names setup7d.2 and setup7d.3 during downloading. If you
are having trouble with the three-disk setup, check the file names of
the second and third setup files. If the names are setup7d.2.2 and setup7d.3.3,
you have the faulty version of Internet Explorer. You can fix the installation
problem by changing the names of these two files back to files setup7d.2
and setup7d.3 . You also might want to consider upgrading your browser.
